Composing Music

Music theory is the study of the written "grammar" of music. If you aspire to write songs or compose, or just want to understand music better, then this class will be for you. Students will get an opportunity to do basic melody writing and song arranging where they will get to apply the concepts learned in class.

 

In this class, students will learn the following.

  • How to read music for both the treble and bass clef.

  • Ear training

  • Scales

  • Key Signatures

  • Intervals

  • Triads

Terms and Conditions

All tuition plans include Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Spring Breaks. The first payments of the Split-Payment plan or the Monthly payment plan is due September 13th, the 2nd payment of the Split-Payment plan is due by January 1st, and remaining payments of the Monthly Payment Plan are due on the 1st of each month. Invoices will be sent after form is submitted. Full year tuition must be paid in full, or the first payment either the Split-Payment or Monthly Payment plans must be paid in full before student can attend the first lesson.


Class attendance is required in order to get the full benefits of this class. If a student who attends either in person or Zoom video call is unable to attend due to sickness, emergency, or personal vacation, they are allowed to and expected to watch the recorded lesson(s) on their own time prior to the next lesson they attend. No refunds will be issued for any missed lessons.


This class has a minimum enrollment requirement of three(3) students each in both the morning and/or afternoon class times. If the morning or afternoon time slots do not meet the minimum enrollment, but the combined number between them equals three(3) or more students, the class time with the fewest students (or students that enrolled last in case of a tie) will be canceled and the students within that class time will be moved to the Watch Recorded Lessons option.


Each class time also has a maximum enrollment limit. 6-8 students may attend in person at home studio. 10-15 students may attend via Zoom video call. 15 students maximum may enroll for the Watch Recorded Lessons option.


This class will have take home coursework that must be completed in full and submitted on time. Any late work will either receive a reduced grade or student may choose to pay a $10 late fee to have their late work graded for full credit to be received.
