Hello Students and families!
Back in September I started the conversation with you all about how we can share music with the community. Many of you contributed to this conversation since then. Your ideas have been received and developed into something that I think is going to be a big success at sharing music with our local Kitsap Community, and whole a lot of fun too.
Starting in January, I plan to scheduled what we'll call Community Pop-Up Concerts! Here's the details on what these concerts will look like.
Where do we play? Ideas of have been suggested for store fronts, hospitals, farmers markets, golf courses, nursing homes, assisted living communities, parks, and schools. Specific location have been mentioned for St. Michael Medical Center, Poulsbo Waterfront, and even the Trails!
What do we play? Practically anything will be considered. Songs can be from current and past repertoire, Fun Focus Week projects, even songs that you've learned outside of the studio. This is meant to be something fun, so play what you most enjoy!
Who can play? The Community Pop-Up Concerts will be volunteer performers from Rose Music Studio. If you want to perform, you're invited to volunteer. Feel free to bring friends to perform with you too!
Is there more? I'm glad you asked! The Community Pop-Up Concerts will provide opportunities outside of our regular recitals.
Improv: All students do either scale improvisations or song improv as part of their lessons at Rose Music Studio. The Community Pop-Up Concerts will be opportunities for volunteer students to perform improvisations. Audience will be given the opportunity to select starting notes which students must use as the basis of their improvisations. Advance students doing song improv will get to perform a song improvisation based of a song chosen randomly by audience member. This will be a fun way for audiences to get involved with the concerts while students get to demonstrate the improv they've learned in lessons.
Not just strings: While Rose Music Studio offers primarily lessons on string instruments, some of you play other instruments. Some of you play piano, guitar, clarinet, flute, drums, or other hidden instruments that I don't even know about. Some of you are involved with other performing arts too, like dance and drama. The Community Pop-Up Concerts will be opportunities for students to showcase their other talents for the community.
Invite your friends: Performers don't have to be students at Rose Music Studio. If you have a friend who would love to share music (or other performing talent) with the community, I'd love to talk with them and give them the opportunity. These concerts are about encouraging the community through music. That can be done by both playing for the community and letting them play along!
Exact dates and locations for the Community Pop-Up Concerts have yet to be finalized and scheduled, but I'm really excited to get the first one ready to go after Christmas Break! I encourage you all to start thinking of the performances you'd like to do for the Pop-Up Concerts and keep sharing your ideas!
Have a great day!
